About Jennifer Myka

A Life Woven with Curiosity, Color, and Care

Welcome to my world—where the lives of animals, the pull of story, and the magic of fiber art have always been tangled up together in the most unexpected ways.

I’m Jennifer Myka, and I’ve spent a lifetime chasing connection—between humans and animals, science and spirit, fiber and form. From molecular genetics labs to six small farms filled with sheep, alpacas, and chickens, to the studio where I now work with hand-dyed locks and long threads of meaning, it’s all part of the same tapestry.

Today, I share that journey through fiber art, immersive workshops, consulting, and speaking—guiding others to explore their own stories of resilience, creativity, and delight in the unexpected.

What I Do Today

Fiber Artist & Visual Storyteller

My work begins with raw animal fiber—often from animals I’ve raised or known—selected for its texture, integrity, and potential for transformation. I’m especially drawn to long, lustrous locks that hold their structure—rare among commercial fibers and often discarded or overlooked by mills. These are the fibers I hand-dye, coaxing out luminous colors and character, while preserving the wild beauty of each lock.

These materials become sculptural fiber pieces, dimensional quilts that blend fiber and fabric in unexpected ways, and expressive wearable art, each layered with memory and meaning. Every lock carries a story.

Whether I’m creating one-of-a-kind fine art, custom commissions, or show pieces for exhibitions, I use fiber art as a medium to explore form, emotion, and connection to the natural world. It’s a tactile conversation between biology and beauty—anchored in care, curiosity, and color.

My pieces are often bold, sometimes whimsical, and always personal. They live at the intersection of fiber and feeling—where nature becomes art and every strand matters.

Speaker & Storyteller

As a speaker, I weave together science, story, and lived experience to help audiences see the world—and themselves—a little differently. Whether I’m sharing insights from a lifetime with animals, a career in biology, or the quiet lessons of fiber art, my talks are rooted in curiosity, resilience, and the power of noticing what matters.

I speak to creative communities, professionals, and organizations looking for perspective, hope, and the spark of reinvention. My style is personal and grounded, with moments of wonder and wit, inviting listeners to connect with their own creativity, purpose, and next step forward.

These aren’t cookie-cutter keynotes—they’re tailored, thoughtful, and designed to stay with people long after the event ends.

Workshop Alchemist

My workshops aren’t about following instructions—they’re about unlocking instinct, texture, and joy. Each one is designed as an immersive experience, where participants connect with fiber, story, and their own creative voice.

I lead with exuberance and intuition, encouraging you to dive in before nerves can catch up. You’ll start with your hands, not your head—and along the way, I’ll offer guidance, hints, and the kind of surprising science that makes the fiber, the animals, and the process come alive.

Using the same long, lustrous locks I work with in my art, I guide small groups through hands-on explorations that celebrate imperfection, wonder, and personal expression. Whether we’re making fiber flowers, wild hats, or sculptural forms, the process is playful, alive with meaning, and deeply textural.

These offerings are occasional and intentionally limited—crafted to feel like creative retreats. I’m also exploring ways to share the magic more widely through curated kits and future online experiences.

Where Our Stories Might Meet

Everything I create—whether it’s a piece of art, a workshop, or a moment on stage—starts with the same thread: a desire to connect. To fiber, to meaning, to each other. If something here sparked your curiosity or felt familiar in that deep, wordless way, I’d love to stay in touch.

While my main focus is on fiber art, speaking, and immersive creative experiences, I occasionally take on one-on-one collaborations related to fiber farm planning, creative agritourism, or storytelling-infused consulting. These are rare and by invitation only—but if it sounds like the right fit, you’re welcome to reach out.
